Students use concrete, hands-on experiences to understand science in the physical and natural world. Students identify problems, formulate and test hypotheses and evaluate experimental results. The focus this year is on Physical Science and Life Science.

Students will:

  • create, design, and research a scientific problem along with a testable hypothesis to be presented at Science Fair
  • use inquiry skills
  • use appropriate strategies to find solutions to design problems, including technology to report on successes
  • create, design, and research a scientific problem along with a testable hypothesis
  • interpret and classify chemical reactions
  • distinguish properties of acids, bases and solids
  • identify ionic, covalent, and metallic bonding
  • compare and contrast observational and experimental investigations
  • classify organisms based on traits
  • identify organs of living things and their function
  • describe and compare development of plant and animal life
  • describe basic life functions, respiration, reproduction, nutrition and digestion
